What You'll Need
A seat, or not, if this is going to happen standing up. Either way you'll need a straight back, and our sidekick, Dr. Barbell.

Why You Should Be Doing This Exercise
Because the shoulder press has been around since the advent of vanity. If you do it standing up you'll get a little core action in there as well. We're not much for tradition, but this exercise is a testament to, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Start
You can do this seated or standing. In either instance, the bar should be in front of your face while doing the exercise. Your hands should be a little wider than shoulder width apart.

Middle
With your chest high (puffed out), and your back straight, raise the bar from the top of your chest to an arm's extended position above your head.

Finish
Bring the bar back smoothly and repeat. Remember to breathe please.

Key Don'ts
Do not arch your back, and again, please don't go behind your head with the bar. The exercise is strong enough without it. Sincerely, your rotator cuffs.
