On May 1, the SPCA of Texas, the Dallas County District Attorney's Office and the Dallas Police Department seized and the SPCA of Texas took custody of 43 allegedly cruelly treated animals from a residence near Dowdy Ferry Road located in Southeast Dallas, TX. The animals consist of 15 eggs, eight dogs, seven cats, six hens, three pullets, three deceased kittens and one rooster. More than five additional deceased dogs and cats were found in advanced decay at the back of the property. The pullets and chickens were transported to the SPCA of Texas' Russell H. Perry Animal Care Center in McKinney, TX; the cats and dogs were transported to the SPCA of Texas’ Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center in Dallas.
At that time, the animal owner admitted to having additional animals at a separate property, but would not reveal the location to investigators. Further investigation revealed the property’s address, where the additional 20 animals were found. The SPCA of Texas' Animal Cruelty Investigations Unit removed the 20 animals and they are now in our care.
